Daily Chat: Sorry Sidney

SORRY SIDNEY

Glad to see that @sidneyrice no longer needs crutches.. can&#... on Twitpic

Sidney Rice is finally off the crutches and Visanth(e) Shiancoe was kind enough to provide the visual evidence on Twitter.

Being able to walk on his own must’ve emboldened the not-yet-ready-for-prime-time receiver because he had some bold opinions with regard to the Vikings signing of Randy Moss.

The Strib‘s Judd Zulgad quotes Rice responding to a suggestion that with Moss, there’s not as much urgency for him to get back on the field: “No, that means when I do get back some teams are going to have some trouble. I’m not going to put everything on his shoulders. They brought him in for a reason and that’s to help the team, whether I’m out there playing or not. I think he’s going to do a good job filling in. He did his job Monday night and when everybody gets on the same page it’s going to be interesting to see how things will go then.”

Right. Moss is just filling in until you get back. One good season puts Moss behind you on the depth chart, huh? You just go right on believing that.

Sidney, I watched Randy Moss come out. I knew Randy Moss’ game from his rookie season. I’ve always been a fan of Randy Moss. Sidney, you’re no Randy Moss.

ROSTER MOVES
The Vikings re-acquired former Gopher cornerback Marcus Sherels for the practice squad, and released tight end John Nalbone to make room for him, and signed veteran cornerback Frank Walker to the 53-man roster.

Walker is 29 years old and in his eighth season, having played for the New York Giants for four years, one season in Green Bay, and the last two with the Baltimore Ravens. He’s 5’11” and weighs 200 pounds. [WATCH FRANK WALKER HIGHLIGHT.]

OUCH
I couldn’t pass on this one, for obvious reasons. Found at YouTube from northstars007 via Shutdown Corner.

THROWBACK THURSDAY
Your footage for this week’s Throwback Thursday is of the Vikings 1997 season, the year before Moss joined the team. [WATCH 1997 MINNESOTA VIKINGS SEASON HIGHLIGHTS.]
