Daily Chat: Minnesota Vikings vs. Denver Broncos Preview

WHAT I’LL BE WATCHING FOR

  • Will the first team offense get a series or two? They need it.
  • Tarvaris Jackson. Will he look not horrible again? It’s improvement.
  • Will Toby Gerhart get extended time at RB? Will he effectively pick up blitzes and/or block on third downs?
  • Will Albert Young solidify himself as the third down specialist?
  • Will cornerbacks DeAndre Wright and Marcus Sherels seize the day with the Vikings sudden lack of corner depth?
  • Another strong performance from my man, Ryan D’Imperio?
  • More Darius Reynaud, please!
  • Javon Walker vs. Logan Payne? Is Payne in too much pain to play?
  • Will Nate Triplett show up?
  • Safeties. Will anyone step up? Class? Anyone?
  • Joe Webb. He’s just fun to watch.

TAKE THE A TRAIN
You might want to consider public transport, if you’re going to be in Minneapolis before or after the game tonight. The Twins also play at Target Field at 7 PM.

LIKELY OUT
Center John Sullivan and defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy

POSSIBLY OUT
Safety Jamarca Sanford, tight end Garrett Mills and wide receiver Logan Payne.

SAME OLD, SAME OLD
Garrett Mills sat out practice Tuesday with some undisclosed ailment. God this guy’s frustrating. He shows flashes of brilliance but he never seems to be healthy.

THE DEETS
The Vikings will play host to the Denver Broncos tonight at 7 PM CST on NBC/KARE 11 and KFAN 1130 AM & 100.3 FM.

THE TEBOW SHOW
Broncos rookie quarterback Tim Tebow will likely play a quarter and a half, if you care. I don’t. I think he’s annoying.

POOR DAUNTE
How the mighty fall. Daunte Culpepper–former Pro Bowl Vikings quarterback and near league MVP–is now leading the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL and as the leader of that squad has to submit himself to the indignity of granting one-on-one interviews with citizen journalists. [Watch.]

THROWBACK THURSDAY: 1992 VIKINGS
Watch video highlights of the 1992 Minnesota Vikings, led by….wait for it….Sean Salisbury! For four games, at least. Hey, they went 11-5 and won the Central. [Watch.]
