Daily Chat: Javon Walker Holding Out?

SOOOOOOO….DOES THIS MEAN JAVON IS HOLDING OUT?
What gives? After hearing all day that the deal was all but done that would bring former Packer Javon Walker to Winter Park, we’ve got no actual confirmation that Walker will be a Viking.

So is Walker holding out?
Drew Rosenhaus is still his agent.
Is Brett annoyed?
Will it cause a schism??

TAKE THAT, SAGE?
Pioneer Press‘ reporter Brian Murphy quotes Favre lobbying to get Joe Webb involved in the offense, “somehow, some way.”

So if Sage Rosenfels is The Leaker in the Yahoo story, is Brett’s enthusiasm for Webb his way of saying Sage is the odd man out?

YA IDIOT!
Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports that Sidney Rice may have surgery on his hip after all and not be available till mid-season. This after two of three specialists Rice saw over the offseason recommended surgery.

So, if Rice will be unavailable till midseason, shouldn’t the Vikings be seriously considering going after Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson?

WE’RE ALL FAVREISTS NOW
Doug Farrar of the Yahoo! blog Shutdown Corner was annoyed with the NBC crew’s fawning focus on Favre. His rant was prelude to dismissing Chris Collingsworth‘s dismissal of fellow Yahooligan Jason Cole‘s story of locker room disrespect for Brad Childress.

“It’s easier for Favreists if this goes a different way,” he wrote, in all seriousness.

Favreists? So that’s what I should’ve been calling all those Green and Gold devotees of Lord Favre.

Sorry, Doug, but we’re all Favreists now.

MUDDLE HUDDLE
Tee-hee! They said “muddle huddle!”

The NBC crew called the way the Vikings offense was milling around the line of scrimmage before a play rather than setting up 10 yards back in a formal huddle formation, a “muddle huddle.”

It sounds like a phrase we should be snickering about.

NUTHIN PERSONAL
Former Vikings defensive coordinator and current NFL Analyst Tony Dungy and Voice Of Moral Authority joined the NBC crew at halftime to declare that his criticism of Jets coach Rex Ryan‘s pottymouth wasn’t personal.

Nah, not at all. How could it be when Dungy was discrete enough to address his issues with Ryan via national television?

Nuthin personal, Rex. Dungy just wants your foul-mouthed ass fired.

CUE NELSON MUNTZ
I could have sworn I heard The Simpsons’ bully Nelson Muntz saying ha-ha after Greg Lewis explained to Ann Carroll on Vikings Weekly his possession of the ESPY award he won with Brett Favre for their winning combination on the last second score against the 49ers last year: “I got to keep the Espy and Brett didn’t get to have one.”

Ha-ha.

SPEED OF THE GAME
What is it with reporters feeling compelled to always ask rookies The Speed Of The Game question?? It never fails. “So, is the speed of the game different from what you were used to in college?”

It’s a given that the pro game is faster and really sheds no light on anything. And by the way, don’t we all know the answer to that question anyway?

BRETT’S GREATEST RETIREMENTS
Both Stephen Colbert [Watch] and Jimmy Kimmel [Watch] had fun with Favre’s indecision.
