Among the first noteworthy contributions by British indie-electronica-dance group Saint Etienne was this cover of Neil Young’s “Only Love Can Break Your Heart”. The band began its career in the early ’90s, known to their U.K. audiences as pilgrims of Brit-pop. Initially, the group expected to perform as a house band, showcasing a rotating lineup of singers. (Sarah Cracknell ultimately became their permanent singer.)
“Only Love Can Break Your Heart” features one of Saint Etienne’s earlier vocalists, Moira Lambert, and was the group’s first single. Found at YouTube from SaintEtienneOfficial.
